what is the difference between content based and duration based course?
In a content based course, you need to cover up all the listed contents irrespective of the duration. you can chose to do it slower or faster depending upon your own caliber or commitment of time.
when does the course /batch start?
Due to the unique nature of the course structure, there is no specific date when the course begins. You can chose to begin anytime after fixing up. once decided to join you can generally begin within a day or so. For the basic level, after your orientation class, the sequence of topics does not matter. The dates are also mentioned on the MKA website.
Are the classes conducted in a batch?
yes and no. depending on the contents being covered, the number of people in a specific session may be more or less. as you undergo your training you may come across people who are senior or junior to you in the same class.
Is the course flexible?
Yes, there is no restriction on the number of sessions attended. if you miss a class you can do it the next time it is being conducted. beyond the first basic lessons the sessions are more or less independant of each other. However, it is recommended that unless unavoidable, be very regular.
What does lifetime memebership mean?
As long as you want or need, you continue to get the guidance from the academy. even after years if you have any doubts you may clarify or attend as many sesions as you want.
Do you provide placements?
Being an art form it all depends on the performance of the students. Yes, time to time people/agencies looking for photographers get in touch and rescruit new commers. However, if your work is good, you will certainly get work and all possible assistance is provided.
How do i get to know about the class schedule?
There is an online calendar in our group on flickr. you just need to check that for updates on the class schedule and come for the sessions accordingly. Generally the sessions are announced one week in advance.
what is the syllabus covered?
The syllabus is listed on the website. However, the course covers almost everything as far as photography is concerned. Also, you can request for the topics not listed. Moreover, since you are a lifetime member, you stay updated with last in photography.
Is it a practical or theoretical course ?
The course has the right balance of theory and practical. Theory is as important as practical. There is no restriction on the number of practical sessions which you may go through. do check out the course contents listed on the website.
who conducts the sessions?
All the sessions are almost always conducted by Munish. There may be a faculty appointed by Munish, who conducts all the basic sessions as per the course structure designed by Munish. However, Munish is personally involved in the training and progress of all the individuals. Most of the advance level sessions are taught by Munish along with the faculty.
Do i need a camera?
you may not need a camera immediately after joining the course. It is a better idea not to buy a camera before joining the course as after a while you will be in a better position to decide on your own regarding the kind, model and brand best suitable for your needs.
I already know a lot about photography?
Depending on your knowledge you may go through the basics faster but it is important to go through the basics. sometimes more knowledge is not important, the right knowledge is more important. The course is flexible and lets you go through the basics in a shorter period.
I am only interested in studio photography! / fashion photography.
It is very important to learn photography first and then move on to studio photography or a particular genre. once you understand the natural light, handling the studio lights becomes easier. specialization comes only after you have specialized in photography. If you master photography you will be able to master the area of your interest as well. As you move towards the advanced levels in your course i involve you more in the genre of your choice. also you work on your portfolio accordingly.
what equipment is provided in the academy?
except for the camera as it is a very personal equipment, all the equipment is provided in the academy. A fully equipped studio is available for the use of the students and they get to have hands on practice on all equipment.
Is it a good idea to assist a photographer instead of a course?
It is a good idea after you have learned. But it is not a replacement of a course. A photographer expects the assistant to be a helping hand and not a liability whom he/she has to train.
How is this course different from other courses?
It is a training program rather than a course. Unlike other courses, this one is content based, flexible and lifelong with unlimited number of interactive sessions.
Do I have to pay before the course in one go?
Yes. you have to pay before the training begins. only after you have paid, the first orientation session is scheduled for you. It is after the orientation session, that you will be able to understand the other basic sessions.
Can I come for a trial class?
You may do so. you may attend any of the sessions scheduled at that time to get a feel of how the sessions are conducted. However, you cannot attend the orientation session without paying first.
Can i pay in installments
no. however, you may enroll for the limited session course for Full fees and later upgrade to the full course by paying the balance Fees.
Do I get a certificate after the course?
It is certified that you have completed the training. However in a profession like Photography the certificate does not carry much value. It is your individual talent and the portfolio which you prepare during the training or otherwise, that helps you get work or procure a job. It is not claimed or guaranteed that an individual may get a job in photography just on the basis of this certificate. It is important to mention here, that unlike a Doctor or an Advocate, there is no minimum qualification/education of any sort required to practice Photography. One may be totally uneducated but a great photographer. However a training helps to learn or sharpen the Photographic skills. The training is aimed at providing you with the skills and experience in photography.
Do I need any prior experience or training in photography?
No the training assumes no prior training or experience in photography. We begin with fundamentals and move on to advanced aspects and techniques of photography, in a very simple, easy, carefully planned step by step method.

Is the training long enough to cover the various aspects?
Yes. As most of the concentration is on Practical aspects of Photography in a planned and scientific manner, by the end of the course we are sure that you have sufficient knowledge and experience to start a career in Photography. Definitely more informative than a four year Bachelor of Fine Arts course, as their concentration is split over various subjects during this long period. Many of the BFA students have been doing this course for additional knowledge.
Are there heavy investments in pursuing photography as a career?
We provide various facilities like studio space and lighting equipment at very nominal rents for your assignments. So you don’t really have to bother about the financial investments and can concentrate on your work. In other words you have a studio of your own without making any investments.
